2018-2023.   Development of design documentation for the reconstruction of Ignalina NPP bituminised radioactive waste storage facility and converting it into near surface repository (project B20)

Scope of work under the project:

- Development of a conceptual design, including a safety assessment of the conversion of an interim storage facility into near surface repository

- Preparation of site evaluation report

- Examination of the building structures of the interim storage facility

- Engineering and geological surveys at the site

- Development of an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report

- Development of the Technical Design for the conversion of the interim storage facility into a permanent repository

- Development of a Safety Analysis Report (SAR)

- Agreement of design documentation with the State Inspectorate for the Safety of Nuclear Energy (VATESI), international experts from the IAEA and other EU institutions.
